How to play with Sova on VALORANT

Learn how to play Sova on Valorant and set up plays with this Player in Riot's newest game.

How to Play with Sova on Valorant Riot Games' newest entry into the FPS genre, VALORANT, is making waves on Twitch.

Sova is one of the free agents you start out with on your account and he's a wonderful character if you're new to a first person shooter like this. Sova allows you to collect valuable information that can help divide enemy forces before they even reach you.

Sova Toolkit

Sova's Q ability is Shock Bolt, of which you can buy two charges during your purchase phase each round for 100 Creds each. You can decide how far the beam goes by holding down the left button. You can also determine if it bounces by right clicking, up to twice, while charging and aiming.

Although the Shock Bolt provides you with a lot of potential damage around areas that would be impossible to shoot, such as narrow corridors next to corners, it is not enough damage to be lethal to healthy opponents. This ability is best used to take down injured players or to soften up full health targets for you to take down later.

Sova's E is his signature ability, Recon Bolt. Similar to Shock Bolt, holding the left button decides how far the arrow fires and you can press the right button to decide how many times it bounces. Once its shot lands, it emits a long-range sonar that can detect enemies within line of sight of the sonar shot's landing.

Since this is your signing ability, it recharges after a 35 second cooldown. If you use it early enough in a round, there is a chance you could use it again later if you need last minute information.

While the Recon Bolt gives you great insight into potential enemy positions quickly, the Recon Bolt can also be destroyed by enemies once it lands. Make sure you gather the information you need quickly before it can be destroyed.

Sova's C skill is Owl Drone. You can only purchase one charge from your store per round for 300 Creds. Sova deploys his Owl Drone, which gives him a full view of the Drone's POV.

The Drone can fire a shot that will reveal any enemy hit for a couple of seconds.

While the Drone can provide you with a great deal of information, Sova is unable to move during the time that his Drone is deployed. You need to make sure you are safe before using it, otherwise you will be a sitting duck.

Like the Recon Bolt, the Drone can be destroyed by the enemy team, making the moment when it is gathering information crucial.

The latest in Sova is the hunter's fury. Sova draws her bow and can fire up to three long-range shots, which can go through walls for a short period of time. While the blast deals immense damage and rips through the entire map, you still need to make sure your target is up to scratch to get those kills.

Also, if you are having trouble getting hits with the arrow, remember that the angle where the arrow shoots is important as each map has different elevation levels. If you have no ideas of where to shoot, the minimap can provide you with information on where you can expect the arrows to go, and potentially where enemies could be if your allies see them.

Effective offensive tactics

While you shouldn't refrain from carrying the Spike, if an ally is wearing it, you can use the Drone early in each round to clear the way for your team, providing them with the knowledge of whether there are tall, short, or surrounding enemies. corners If you lure in enemies to shoot the drone, your team can potentially quickly follow and hit them while it's under attack.

Also, after your Drone has finished, using your Recognition Bolt when the map is silent can help you gain an advantage over your opponents. If you fail to reveal an enemy with your shot, then you have knowledge of where it is not and can potentially advance towards a bomb site.

Effective defensive tactics

Since Sova can collect so much information when given space or time, it can effectively maintain a bomb on its own and have its team guard other popular areas on each map. Your owl drones and recon arrows let you know if multiple enemies are trying to rush an area, and if they are, you can quickly call your team to turn towards you to compete against them.

When you know an enemy is coming your way, either to place a Spike or to disarm one you've planted, Hunter's Ultimate Fury ability can be used as a zone denial tool. Don't be afraid to take photos knowing that they can be easily dodged. Buying valuable time can allow your team to gain a flank or a Spike to detonate.

Final thoughts for Sova

In the early rounds where your Cred economy is limited, it is recommended to have at least your Owl Drone, a charge from your Shock Arrow, and at least some form of light armor. This allows you to be a powerful early skirmish that can also provide a lot of useful usefulness and information for your team.

If you have any downtime, take some time during a custom game to find creative angles for your Shock or Recon Arrow and practice them. While you can't practically hit those angles every time during the tense moments of a match, you may still have the knowledge to be able to use them in the slower moments of a round, which will surprise your enemies.

However, most of the time, you need to make sure that you are well acquainted with hitting the Quick Shock or Recon arrows, as those will be the ones that you should be effective.

Also, spending time to articulate more with your calls will be beneficial as your intelligence skills give you advanced insights that could help you jump on the enemy team.
